The Ritz Carlton Doha is the perfect city hotel for beach lovers

With the next World Cup due to start in November, it’s almost time to start making all those important hotel reservations. Doha is a sparkling city with a host of terrific luxury hotels; if you are looking for one on the gentle shores of the Arabian Sea, the Ritz Carlton is for you. The hotel is located in a quieter part of town and offers a pleasant sense of tranquility, a short distance from the World Cup stadiums.

All of the rooms at this five-star property have been recently refurbished and feature modern decor using Tuscan marble and French oak. The hotel has many extremely spacious suites and each suite has floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular views. The Ivory Suite is one of the largest at over 2,400 square feet and is mostly decorated in ivory tones. The suite is filled with works by local artists, furniture by British designer Christopher Guy, Italian marble and custom rugs from France. Or you can check into the Cobalt Suite where blue accents predominate and there’s a more modern vibe with furniture from Italian design house Giorgetti.

In addition to the very quiet beach, the hotel has an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool with swim-up bar, a hot tub, a plunge pool and a children’s pool. There’s also a great gym, squash court, and two indoor tennis courts (a nice addition as Doha can get quite steamy). One of the property’s highlights is its super luxurious spa which also houses two hammann treatment rooms. Exclusive treatments include the Desert Cooler, which is designed to cool your body and refresh your mind. Another favorite is the Arabian Ritual Hammann, a local specialty that includes a traditional clay wrap.

Doha has many outstanding restaurants, but if you decide to dine there, you won’t be disappointed. At STK Doha, diners can feast on an exceptional menu of international steaks, including Japanese Wagyu, USDA Prime Tenderloin and Australian Tomahawk. There are also great seafood options and a surprisingly wide selection of vegan choices. The waterfront B-Lounge offers an Asian fusion menu and some of the best sushi in town. French classics are available at Sel & Miel and Flamingos is the place to go for poolside sandwiches and frozen treats.

This property features an expansive club level with five daily cooking sessions. Additionally, there is a Weekly Wonders program where guests can interact directly with local chefs for cooking demonstrations and wine and chocolate tastings.

All in all, the Ritz Carlton Doha is a great base to enjoy the World Cup or any other occasion that puts you in town.
