Tacoma is one of the largest cities in Washington, both in population and size. Yet when you’re there, it’s impossible to miss the huge and sprawling Point Defiance Park. The park spans 760 acres (to put that in perspective, Central Park’s size is 840 acres), and it has more beauty, views, amenities, and entertainment than any other park in the state. Next time you’re in the area, don’t miss a day at the park.
In 1888, President Grover Cleveland authorized its use as a public park.

Since this place has something for everyone, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.

There is even old growth forest within the park boundaries.

The zoo and aquarium are open year-round and host many seasonal celebrations.

The 11-hectare zoological park was established in 1905 and is nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. This means that the animals are treated with the best care.

And if you want to learn more about local history, head to the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum.

Stay long enough and you might even spot wildlife like bald eagles or seals.
