Park Hang-seo will entrust the U23 team to his assistant during the Dubai Cup 2022, an international friendly tournament.

Park will bring both the national team and the U23 team to Hanoi for training on March 13. During these sessions, Park will let assistants instruct both teams while overseeing overall management.

The national team will play the final two World Cup qualifiers with Oman on March 24 and Japan on March 29, while the U23 team will take part in the Dubai Cup from March 20-30.

Therefore, Park will entrust the U23 team to his assistant, Gong Oh-kyun. Gong was introduced to the Vietnam Football Federation and will sign a contract in March.

Under an agreement in Park’s contract extension last year, he will coach the U23 team until the end of SEA Games 31 in May. After that, Park will only focus on the national team while Gong will officially take over the U23 team.

This year, the Dubai Cup will feature 10 U23 teams: China, Croatia, Iraq, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

In the first round, Vietnam will face Iraq on March 23. They will face China three days later in the second round.
