Vietnam national football team coach Park Hang-seo tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus after watching the 2022 V.League opening match recently.

Coach Park Hang-seo is in stable condition after being infected with COVID-19, according to local media.

An RT-PCR test on March 3 showed the Korean manager had contracted the virus upon his return from the Binh Dinh FC game against Viettel FC, local media reported.

Park, who received three doses of vaccines, is now in quarantine and is in stable condition, sources said.

Park, his assistants and Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officials have already completed upcoming training plans for the national team and the U23 team.

Vietnam are set to face Oman on March 24 and Japan five days later in their final qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the U23 team will take part in the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) to be held in Vietnam in May, aiming to defend their league title.

The U23 team will also take part in an international tournament – Dubai Cup 2022 – from March 20-30 ahead of their competition at the SEA Games.

An assist to Park is expected to coach the U23 team in this tournament.
