BREAKING: Armed suspect inside Lynnwood’s Hotel International

LYNNWOOD, Wash., May 7, 2022 – The Lynnwood Police Department responded to an active situation at the International Hotel off 196th Street and Scriber Lake Road in Lynnwood, where an armed individual was in one of the hotel rooms. Subject is in custody and is being assessed by the EMT.

According to the police, a man in “crisis” barricaded himself in his room. After hours of effort by the negotiation and coordination team with SWAT, the man surrendered to police without incident. The male was cleared to “come down” from his high state and then assessed by Fire/AID personnel.

The Lynnwood Police Department, North Sound Metro SWAT and South County Fire all arrived at the scene.

Lynnwood Times staff arrived at the scene around 3:15 p.m. as an LPD officer closed the Fuji Japanese Steak & Sushi House and Bank of North America parking lots. The officer told staff that there was “a situation at the hotel – possible firearms involved”.

A steak house employee who shares the parking lot with the hotel said authorities have ordered the steak house to close its business for the time being, and also shared that the restaurant’s water was turned off but did not know why – suspecting that it had something to do with the situation.

According to a witness at the scene, the suspect fired a gun which hit a pipe and is currently in hotel room 208. Although there is flooding in the hotel, police are not did not confirm whether the suspect discharged a firearm.
